Summary

My name is Ben Whitehouse. I specialise in stop motion animation puppet fabrication and character design.

I graduated from Birmingham City University in 2010 with first class honours in animation.

I am experienced with mold making, silicone casting, wire armatures, hair punching, character sculpture, silicone painting, silicone seaming and

puppet maintenance during a shoot. I can go from its character design to a maquette to the final puppet.

I have worked with Dragon Skin silicone, Mold max, T20
I have mainly worked with Crystacal R plaster for mold making

I have sculpt with Super sculpey, super sculpey firm, chavant nsp, Newplast Plasticine

I am competent with wood working tools and have had basic training with welding for armatures.

I have an excellent understanding on all factors of puppet fabrication for stop motion and even if I have not yet been able to attempt a certain

technique or process I still have very good understanding of it which helps me to learn it quicker.

I constantly seek to improve my skills and techniques.
I have an active and current knowledge of the animation industry.
I have a very meticulous personality. I am very quick to learn. I work well within a team and on my own.
I have a healthy obsession with stop motion animation. I would bring energy to a studio, as I have a genuine passion for what I do, I would feel

privileged to be given the opportunity to turn something I love to do into a career.

I am also experienced with motion control and have used a Milo motion control unit on two of my short films.
Being a portrait photographer my love for lighting has spread in to my animation.

Recommendation via Linkedin
"I taught Ben at Birmingham City University and he graduated with a well deserved first class honours
degree. He is exceptionally hard working, conscientious and passionate about this subject. His work is
meticulously hand crafted and detailed to the highest of standards. He was a joy to teach, and a popular
member of his class. He is currently shadowing me at BCU as a visiting lecturer on the BA (Hons) Animation
course. The students are fully engaged with him, he is approachable and is willing to share his experience,
knowledge and expert advise. The students look up to him as a positive role model. I am very confident Ben
has the ability and approach to excel working in industry and in education. I would recommend Ben
anytime."
